About Me
Hello! I’m Mackenzie De La Cruz, a Certified Birth Doula trained by the International Doula Institute, proudly serving Bakersfield and the surrounding Kern County areas. I have had the privilege of supporting births in all major hospitals in Bakersfield as well as at the Bakersfield Birth Center, ensuring families feel supported and empowered throughout their journey.
As a mother of two, I’ve experienced the beauty of birth firsthand. My oldest was born in a hospital following an induction that turned into a powerful, unmedicated labor. My youngest arrived at a free-standing Birth Center, born gently into the water with the care of a midwife. Each experience left me feeling incredibly empowered and grateful, and I draw on these insights to provide compassionate support to every family, regardless of their birthing plans—whether at a hospital, birth center, or home.
Community is at the heart of who I am. I love being active in my local church and find immense joy in leading a book club, where I can connect with others over our shared love of reading. I also enjoy gathering with friends for games, whether it's tackling the latest NYT puzzles or diving into card and board games.

Behind the Name:
Harmonia Birth Doula
The name "Harmonia" is deeply personal to me, rooted in my lifelong passion for music. Growing up in a choir led by my grandma, I found joy in singing harmony. Throughout middle and high school, I embraced my love for music by joining show choir and participating in worship teams as an adult. I’ve always believed my “sweet spot” is harmonizing—supporting the lead singer while adding depth and richness to the overall sound.
This concept of harmony beautifully parallels my role as a doula. I see myself as a supportive presence, not the one in the spotlight, but rather as the backup vocals that enhance the experience for the birthing person. Through advocacy, education, and comfort, I aim to create a serene and beautiful environment that allows the lead singer to shine.
In my search for a name, I discovered that many doulas incorporate "Harmony," leading me to the term "Harmonia." In Greek mythology, Harmonia is the goddess of harmony, peace, and concord, embodying the essence of what I aspire to bring to each birth experience.
My goal is to be that calming, harmonious presence in your birthing space, ensuring that your journey is not only beautiful but also empowering.
